27-gauge vitrectomy for posterior segment eye disease: experience at a tertiary care center in Kashmir, India

Background: The aim of this work was to study the clinical outcomes, operative time, and complications 27-gauge (27G) microincision vitrectomy surgery in posterior segment eye disease (PSED). Material methods: This prospective observational conducted at a tertiary care hospital Kashmir, India. 27G transconjunctival sutureless performed on 101 eyes patients with PSED. Results: Of patients, pars plana indicated for retinal detachment (RD) (n = 36, 35.7%), vitreous hemorrhage 35, 34.7%), epiretinal membrane (ERM)/vitreomacular traction (VMT) 16, 15.9%), macular hole 7, 6.9%), endophthalmitis 4, 3.9%) intraocular lens drop 3, 2.9%). We observed significant improvement mean logMAR visual acuity all indications (p < 0.05 each).
